Real estate law

Sixty percent of Dutch people own their own home. This large group of the Dutch population is confronted with everything that home ownership (property ownership) entails. This can vary from a mortgage, the question of where exactly the property boundary lies, what neighbours are and are not allowed to do, apartments with a Homeowners' Association and use of the property by others, but also the question of whether I am the owner of a particular piece of land or whether I share ownership with my neighbours. All these questions are part of “property law”.

However, property law encompasses much more, such as area and location development and cooperation between governments and private parties to realise real estate projects. Legal issues concerning the construction of homes, factories, etc., both in relation to the government and in relation to private parties involved in the construction, also fall under property law, as does the rental thereof.
